OKR Status & Traffic Lights

The Status tab in the OKR Manager gives you a read-only overview of every key result in the selected cycle. It shows each key result's progress bar, traffic-light status, current value, last updated date, and owner, all at a glance.

Traffic light statuses

Every key result carries one of four traffic-light statuses. These are set manually each time someone creates an update and are not calculated automatically.

  • Not Started (gray): No work has begun on this key result yet
  • On Track (green): Progress is on pace to meet the target by the end of the cycle
  • Behind (yellow): Progress is lagging and the key result may miss its target without corrective action
  • Critical (red): The key result is significantly off target and needs immediate attention

The status is always determined by the person updating the key result, giving the owner the opportunity to provide their own judgment rather than relying purely on numbers.

Team progress

At the top of the Status tab a Team progress bar shows overall progress across all key results compared to how much time has elapsed in the cycle. The progress percentage is a weighted average where key results with higher weights contribute more to the total. Key results with their weight set to zero are excluded from the calculation.

This gives you a quick way to see whether the team as a whole is ahead of or behind the cycle timeline.

What each key result row shows

Each key result is displayed as a row within its parent objective. The row contains:

  • Number: The key result's position within the objective (e.g. 1.1, 1.2)
  • Title: The key result description
  • Progress bar: A visual bar comparing current progress against the target, with a marker showing how much cycle time has passed
  • Status pill: The current traffic-light status as a colored label
  • Value: The current value displayed as a fraction of the target (e.g. "45 / 100")
  • Last updated: How recently the key result was updated
  • Owner: The assigned owner's avatar (click to view their details)

Exploring key result details

Each row has three action buttons on the right:

  1. Chart icon: Toggles an inline progress graph and data table showing all updates over time
  2. Comments icon: Toggles an inline list of past updates with their values, statuses, dates, and comments
  3. Eye icon: Opens the Key Result detail sheet, a side panel with three tabs:
    • Status: A progress chart, current value summary, and last updated date
    • Updates: The full update history. If you have permission, you can delete individual updates from here.
    • Supporting: Any supporting key results linked from other teams

Fullscreen mode

Click the expand icon in the top-right corner of the Status tab to enter fullscreen mode. This fills the entire screen with the status view, including the team name, cycle label, and team progress bar in a sticky header. Fullscreen mode is useful for team reviews, stand-ups, or projecting the status board in meetings.

Click the minimize icon or press the button again to exit fullscreen.

Outcome thresholds

Your organization can configure outcome thresholds in the admin OKR Settings. These thresholds determine how key result outcomes are color-coded based on their progress percentage relative to the target:

  • On Track (green): Progress meets or exceeds the on-track threshold (default: 100% of target)
  • Behind (yellow): Progress is between the behind threshold and the on-track threshold (default: 80–100%)
  • Critical (red): Progress is below the behind threshold (default: below 80%)

These thresholds apply to outcome calculations across dashboards and reports. They are separate from the manually-set traffic-light statuses described above. Traffic lights reflect the owner's judgment, while outcome thresholds provide an objective, numbers-based assessment.

Tips for using the Status tab

  • Review status regularly: Use the Status tab during weekly team syncs to spot key results that need attention
  • Use fullscreen for meetings: The fullscreen view keeps the focus on progress without sidebar distractions
  • Click into details: The chart and comments toggles let you drill into a key result without leaving the page
  • Compare progress to time: The progress bar's cycle marker shows whether a key result is ahead of or behind the expected pace
