Check-ins Overview

Check-ins are team progress snapshots that capture notes, key result updates, and action items for a given date. The Check-in tab in the OKR Manager lists all check-ins for the selected cycle, grouped by year and month with the most recent first.

Accessing the check-in list

  1. Navigate to your team's OKR page from the sidebar
  2. Select a cycle period using the period selector in the header
  3. Switch to the Check-in tab

The Check-in tab is only available when the cycle has been published (active or archived). Draft cycles do not show the tab.

What the list shows

Each check-in appears as a row inside a month group. A row displays:

  • Date: The check-in date, shown in long format (e.g. "March 7, 2026"). Clicking the date opens the check-in in view mode.
  • Author: The avatar and name of the person who created the check-in
  • Note count: The number of notes attached to the check-in
  • Action buttons: Quick actions for viewing, editing, sharing, and deleting

When a cycle has no check-ins yet, an empty state is shown with a prompt to create one.

Creating a check-in

Click the Create new check-in button at the top of the list. This opens the check-in editor where you can add notes, update key result values and statuses, and record action items.

Creating a check-in requires the create check-in permission for the team. The button is disabled on mobile devices because check-ins must be created on a desktop or tablet.

Viewing a check-in

Click the date in any row or the eye icon in the action buttons to open a read-only view of the check-in. The view shows all objectives, their key results with current values and statuses, and any notes or comments that were recorded.

Anyone with access to the team can view check-ins.

Editing a check-in

Click the pencil icon to open the check-in in the full editor. You can modify notes, update key result values, and adjust action items. Changes are autosaved as you work.

Editing requires the edit check-in permission and is not available on mobile devices.

Sharing a check-in

Click the share icon to open the share dialog. From here you can:

  1. Copy a direct link: Click the copy button next to the URL to copy a shareable link to your clipboard. Anyone in your organization with access to the team can open it.
  2. Email the team: Click the email button to send the check-in to all team members. Depending on your organization's settings, the email can include just a link or the full check-in report with all objectives, key results, and notes.

Sharing requires the email check-in permission.

Deleting a check-in

Click the trash icon to delete a check-in. A confirmation dialog appears showing the check-in date and warning that the action cannot be undone. Click Delete to confirm or Cancel to go back.

Deleting requires the delete check-in permission.

Tips for effective check-ins

  • Create check-ins on a regular cadence: Weekly or bi-weekly check-ins help the team stay aligned without creating too much overhead
  • Add notes for context: Numbers alone don't tell the full story; use notes to highlight wins, flag blockers, and outline next steps
  • Share after each check-in: Emailing the check-in to the team keeps everyone informed, even those who didn't attend the meeting
  • Review past check-ins: Scroll through previous check-ins to spot trends and track how blockers were resolved over time
