Recovery and the Grind

Follow the fictional adventures of the Carbonoodle organisation as they transparently share their board reports compiled from their OKR process in OKRnest.

Three things to know about July:

  • The platform recovery is holding. Engineering and Product ran a clean month — no incidents, bug backlog down from 59 to 41, incident recovery time down to 14.5 minutes.
  • European expansion is finally moving. Germany’s marketing campaigns went live 2 August; the platform launch follows in the first days of August. That takes us from one country to two, with the third targeted before quarter-end.
  • Sales volume is on pace, deal size is not. First marquee logo (>€100K) signed, 11 new customers in July — but average contract value is €84.1K against a €90K target. Recovering, slowly.

Org scorecard — all teams, the year and the quarter

One month into Q3, every team is green at the headline. The annual plan is just past halfway with five months to go.

Company burn-up — progress vs. the pace line

OKRnest › Explore › Timeline

Both curves are above the pace line — the yearly since June, the quarter from week one. Compare with the flat spot in May: the fixes we paid for then are working.

The annual scorecard

Leadership 2026 annual OKRs

OKRnest › Teams › Leadership › Status

  • ARR: €3.64M of €5M — on pace.
  • Customers: 97 of 120 — on pace.
  • Hiring: 13 of 20 — on pace.
  • European expansion: 1 country of 3 — behind, but about to move (below).

Key Result — European expansion

OKRnest › Key Result sheet — “Launch platform in 3 new European countries”

This bar has been red since April, stalled on EU regulatory uncertainty. It now moves: campaigns are live in Germany and the platform go-live lands in early August. Expect 2 of 3 in next month’s report.

What went well: Marketing unstuck Europe

Marketing status — pipeline green, Germany live

OKRnest › Teams › Marketing › Status

Pipeline is healthy — 1,180 of 2,800 enterprise leads one month in, €370K marketing-sourced ARR booked toward the €1M goal. The main event is the third market:

Key Result — Germany live, 3 of 3 markets

OKRnest › Key Result sheet — “Launch localized marketing campaigns in 3 new European countries”

Four weeks reported honestly as Behind, then the flip: Germany live on 2 August. New-market leads are already responding (385 of 1,000), so demand will be waiting when the platform launches days later.

What needs watching: contract value

Sales closed 11 logos and €310K of new ARR in July — on pace — and signed the first marquee (>€100K) customer, with two more in late-stage. The watch item is average contract value: €84.1K against a €90K target, amber all month. This is the cost of the spring’s discounting being worked off at roughly €1K per week through stricter pricing discipline. Slow and deliberate is the plan; we’d rather report an amber bar recovering than a green one bought with margin.

One name worth knowing

Sara in Marketing owned the Germany launch and reported her own key result as Behind four weeks running while she fixed it. That’s the reporting culture we want, so it gets said out loud here.

Everything in this report is live in OKRnest — happy to drill into any number in the meeting.
