Working with goals is the secret sauce of management
I have spent more than fifteen years in leadership managing teams in sales, marketing, product and tech. Even as the leader of management teams, the one playbook I've brought that has always created results, no matter the team, has been to create clarity around goals.
Ten years ago this took me on a journey to learn more about goals and to deep dive into what best practice actually exist out there. To my big surprise, one of the most important topics of leadership is not as explored as I had thought and the options for a team lead looking to sharpen his or her skills quite fast converges on a few goal setting systems of which Objectives and Key Results (OKRs) is one of the few that offers a comprehensive way of really working with goals. OKRs will be the framework we explore in this guide.
